*____* Yummy Snack Bento!!! XDXDXD
Left, Top Compartment: Crunch Mini-chocolates, Polvoron, Earl Grey Tea Bag Left, Bottom Compartment: Seedless Grapes =9 Right Compartment: Veggie Thin Crackers, Pesto Bread-Cheese Melt Am I a glutton? XD All that for snack? Lol. Don't worry, I shared them. XD
 Top Tier: WaiYing Siumai, Rice topped with Ma-hu (Powdered Pork with Sesame Seeds and Seaweed Strips), Meatballs Bottom Tier: Bread and Cheese Melt, Marshmallows Extra: Mango Jelly
(XD Getting tired of writing descriptions.XD)
WARNING!! It's not an appetizing picture!!! Still want to see it? ^^;;
Left Compartment: Rice, sprinkled with toasted sesame seed, noodles (I don't know how the dish is called. :P)
Right, Top Compartment: Apple slices, supposedly "garnished" with Philippine Lemon slices
Right, Bottom Compartment: Tofu and Fish Fillet. I had second thoughts about posting this. I don't find it appealing. But then again, it's here to chronicle what I eat. XD Good or bad. Now that I think about it, it looks bad since the dishes are "wet". It's challenging to decorate "wet" dishes since they don't hold shape. Secondly, they're all leftovers (except the apples and the rice) XDXD. Third, I'm just not good enough. XD But I did learn something interesting. This morning, my aunt from Australia (who stays with us for a week) learned that I like to "decorate" my bentos. Since she likes to cook and garnish food, she was pretty excited to see how mine would turn out. In the end, she was the one who taught me new tricks. The spring onion you see on the left? She did that. :P She sliced the end of spring onion stalk and submerged it in a bowl of cold, iced water. Since it's cold, the ends curled up by itself. It doesn't look as nice as it should with my bento. But maybe some other chance. :D
 Top Tier: Apple slices, WaiYing Siumai (WaiYing is a name of a resto. XD)
Bottom Tier: Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork
It's my mom's birthday today! Do you know what that means? We'll have the traditional misua (a kind of birthday noodles). For more info about Misua, click here.
Top Tier: Koko Krunch Cereals mixed with Twix Fruit Cereals and flower-shaped marshmallows, mango jelly, strawberry jelly, pineapple jelly. :P Bottom Tier: Potato Croquette, Curry Croquette (both from Hatchiin), Misua. Oh dear, the croquettes I bought from Hatchiin didn't taste as good as I imagine. After a while, I start to get bored eating it. We call it Nakaka-suya. I don't know how to describe it in English though. But at least, I packed some yummy stuff for snacks. That certainly evened it out. XD
And here comes a back-log of bento lunches that I haven't blogged about. Quite over-dued. But even so, I hope you enjoy them. Hopefully, you become a bento convert too. ^0^ *pulls Katrina and Sylphie* For Bento #1-7, please go to my Diaryland blog instead. =D Without further ado, I present thee Bento Lunch #8!
Top Tier: Kuma-Futago-chan Rice, Hoshi-chan Rice, Spicy Tuna Flakes, Fried Fish Fillet Bottom Tier: Cream Sauce for the Fish Fillet, Mandarin Orange Slices and an Evil-heart Onigiri. XD Actually "Kuma-Futago-chan Rice, Hoshi-chan Rice" are just bear-shaped and star-shaped rice. For the Futago, that's just because there are two Kuma-shaped. XD I didn't like the onigiri very much. I like seaweed wrappers, but they tend to taste pretty aweful and tasteless when they're moist and soggy. I wonder how others do theirs. ^^
 Top Tier: Flower-shaped marshmallows, corn-flavored and milk-coffee flavored jellies, mango cubes :9 Bottom Tier: Rice, Milk Fish strips, Tuna and Cheese Omelet, Chicken Popcorn :9 Can you tell that this is one of my favorite lunches? Everything is just so yummy. XDXD
O_O Just as I posted Bento Lunch #8, I noticed that I haven't posted #6 and #7. Hahaha. XD Here goes #6!
Left, Top Compartment: Pork and Beans... (hahaha. XD) Left, Bottom Compartment: Cured Chicken Strips (Chicken Tocino), Sauteed Squash Right Compartment: Rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds Extra: Banana. :P I'm trying to be healthy, you know. XD Not exactly a favorite bento. XD But a healthier one. =P
My cousin from Australia came last week, and we decided to treat her to dinner last night since it was my mom's birthday. There were a lot of drinks from the menu to choose from - Buko in Shell, Mango Shake, Iced Tea, Softdrinks, etc., etc. I got Buko in Shell. In the end, she picked Sprite (or was it 7-Up?) in can without ice. At first, we thought she had a bad throat or something so she didn't want to drink anything cold. The real reason? She didn't want to drink ice from our country since it is/could be dirty. And she ordered softdrinks in can because she's afraid they might use tap water or something in restaurant-prepared juice or shakes. So sad... That's how dirty our country looks like to foreigners.
 Top tier: Rice, roasted pork, chocolate bits in the yellow and green paper cups, and a strawberry jelly. Bottom tier: Cheese macaroni with luncheon meat cubes Ahhh... I'm so disappointed with this photo. It doesn't look yummy at all. Where was the sun when I shot this!! It looks so dark. Leveling it with photoshop didn't remedy it either. >< I always take my bento photos on the same spot (beside the window) everyday. Oh! Did you notice the angle usually the same? I think the combination of colors for the top tier is also to blame. A brighter or white paper cup would look better, don't you think? XD The cheese macaroni was a left-over from yesterday. XD
 Top left compartment - Apple slices Bottom left compartment - cheese macaroni with cubes of toasted luncheon meat Right compartment - Siumai from Wai Ying, some luncheon meat slices, and rice Lol. I just love Lock n Lock for it's air-tight feature. =3 The apple slices didn't get brown at all! I'm just a little skeptic about putting cookies in one of the compartments when there's steaming rice the compartment next. Wouldn't the moisture of the rice affect the crunchiness of the cookies? Or maybe I should get a smaller Lock n Lock for my snacks and desserts. XD It's also the first time I had a cheese macaroni. I saw my friend having it for lunch two or three times already and I was curious as to how it tasted like. It definitely looks yummy. So at home, we had this Velveeta Cheese Sauce that we don't know what to do with. XD You guessed it next. I made it to my cheese macaroni. My sister didn't like the taste. For me, it was fine... it just tasted a lot like cheez-wiz. XD
